Jigsaw Property Services were commissioned to carry out urgent remedial and refurbishment works at a popular bar and restaurant in the heart of Leicester. The project involved essential repairs to the main bar floor and upgrades to back-of-house hygiene standards – all to be delivered under a strict one-week turnaround to avoid disruption to valuable weekend trade.
Our Approach
Bar area:
- Uplift and removal of the existing floor covering and rotted sub-floor.
- Rebuild of the entire floor structure using new treated timber and high-grade plywood.
- Application of a liquid damp-proof membrane (DPM) to prevent future water ingress.
- Installation of a self-levelling screed to ensure a smooth, even surface.
- Supply and fitting of new cap-and-cove vinyl floor covering, offering durability and easy maintenance.
Kitchen and Pot Wash Area:
- Installation of White Rock hygienic cladding and stainless steel cladding to the cooking areas throughout, improving hygiene compliance and cleanliness in food preparation and washing zones.
Challenges and Solutions
The primary challenge was the tight timeframe. With weekend revenue at stake, the client requiredall works to be completed and the venue fully operational within just five days. Any delay risked significantloss of income and customer confidence.
In addition, the bar area’s sub-floor was severely compromised. Water ingress, caused by a failed floor covering, had led to rot throughout the structural timber. This posed a health and safety risk and required immediate attention.Simultaneously, the client requested an upgrade to hygiene standards in the kitchen and pot wash areas by installing a hygienic wall cladding system and stainless steel to the cooking areas– adding complexity and scale to the already time-sensitive project.
